The problem with VAR in Football.

So many times in the past have we had goals not given, incorrectly ruled out. Penalties completely missed, or given for diving.

VAR should have solved all of that. But it hasn't. There's no clear rule for when they intervene. In the stadium, you have no idea if they're even checking anything. You don't know what's happened.

But the people at home do.

As a collective, I think Football fans would agree that the principle behind VAR is great, and a benefit to the sport. But those running it, are not.

Recently Mike Dean, former Premier League referee has came out to say  he failed to correct a mistake in a match to save his friend and fellow official, Anthony Taylor from "extra grief".

This proves what we all thought all along. The officials aren't up to the standard required to run our game.  There's mistakes, there's missing obvious errors, but this is not one of them. This is refusing to correct a mistake because you're worried about the reputation of your friend who has missed a clear and obvious incident.

Since these comments, PGMOL has responded to say that they "strongly refute any suggestion that VARs do not intervene".

Yet, Mike Dean himself (who was VAR at the time of this incident), has clearly stated that he didn't intervene, even though he saw the clear and obvious error.

Something has to change.
